The Village Project

The Brief

Project Type: Suburban single-family Victorian home
Year Built: 1906
Location: Rockville Center, NY

Primary Space: Open kitchen with island
Size: Approximately 220 sq ft
Natural Light: West-facing, with afternoon light shaping the space

Design Direction:
The kitchen should feel thoughtfully integrated into the home’s original Victorian architecture while introducing a sense of modern clarity.

Atmosphere & Color Palette:
The palette will be soft and neutral—warm whites, pale stone, gentle gray, and natural wood tones—allowing the west-facing light to shape the mood of the room throughout the day.

Intended Feeling:
This kitchen should feel calm, grounded, and quietly uplifting—a space that supports daily routines while inviting people to linger. It should be designed to age gracefully alongside the historic character of the home.
